SQT-10M - Everything Stopped

SQT-10M T-Plus. I powered up the machine. Set a tool with the tooleye. Was running the spindle at about 500 rpm to let it warm up a bit. Pulled up the program and standing there looking at it and then I heard a noise like a breaker kicking out. I then lost the screen and hydraulics. I then shut everything off and powered the main switch and I had the electrical cabinet fans as normal. Push the green button and the monitor fan came on but nothing else. I've tried resetting every breaker I could find and wiggled all the connections but still no screen or hydraulics. I don't know a whole lot about the electrical on this so any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!
Thanks!

T-Plus power on (warm up)

Hi, I have a new-to-me SQT200MS with T-Plus control. When I switch it on from the transformer the green power light comes on on the controller (next to the monitor), when I press this nothing happens straight away, pressing several times it will eventually power up. The machine is optioned with something mazak call "warm-up", is this delay normal for this control and/or option?

Mazatrol Lathe Training Videos--Need Your Ideas Please

Hey Guys,

I'm planning on making a bunch of Mazatrol lathe training videos and posting them on YouTube in the near future because I keep getting requests via PMs to make some videos. Searching around on YouTube yields very little in the way of Mazatrol videos so I can definitely see there is a need for this.

I have a bunch of ideas for "advanced" programming methods--tips and tricks I have learned, but I don't really know what types of things you guys would actually like to see. Nobody has asked for anything specific.

I'm going to enlist the help of a friend of mine who is a cinematographer by trade to film and edit these videos, so these will be professional grade training aids and not shot with a shaky cell phone.

I would appreciate you guys posting up some ideas for lathe video content in this thread as you guys will be my target audience.

Thanks.

Parameters for T2 control

This is going to be a real long shot, but does anyone have the parameters for a 1988 or so QT15 with T2 control? It has to be a chucker (no tailstock) with AC axis servos. I had the spindle drive repaired and we were able to get all of the errors cleared, but the chuck will not move and the turret will not home, jog or rotate. I'm thinking that Mazak must have made more than one of these and maybe one is still in service somewhere, or someone might possibly have the parameters stashed away somewhere.

Programming a 4th axis in Mazatrol

So I am looking for thoughts/ideas on how to approach programming a part in Mazatrol on a 4th axis. I recently acquired a FJV25 (M+ control) with a 4th axis. I have run a few parts on it and it is really nice to be able to work on 4 sides of a part in one setup, but programming it has been kind of painful. So far the best that I have come up with is to do all of the work on one side, turn the part in a manual program and then do all of the work on a different side. The problem with this method is that it leads to a lot of tool changes. I am looking for a way to have "tool 1" and use it on all sides of the part (all rotations of the 4th axis), then change to "tool 2" and use it on all side, then "tool 3" and so on.

Also if anyone has any other tips and tricks that would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Tailstock / spindle allignment qt-18

I had to turn a shaft recently and was appalled to see that over 7 ½ inches, I had a .013 taper. I put this together for my own notes, but I thought I would share what I did to fix and get it to within .0002 over 7 1/2 inches. There are 2 ways to adjust the tailstock to center with the spindle. At the end of the quill there is an eccentric that you can rotate, this maybe good for .005+-, but not going to fix my problem. The second way is to move the base that the tailstock sits on. There are 8 - 12mm cap head screws and 2 push/pull bolts that you can use to get things in alignment. I actually started w/ the head stock, I had a .007 taper with out any tailstock involved so I adjusted using the same push-pull style bolts in the tailstock.

Difference between program zero point and reference workpiece zero point

I’m brand new to mazatrol and have a Hyundai quick turn 15n with a T32B control

I’m reading the manuals and understand 85% of it so far but I’m getting lost with what the “reference workpiece zero point” is???

Program zero point is fine being the end of the stock that you touch your tool 1 off of to set zero, but why is there a “Z-Offset” to the reference workpiece zero point ? What’s that all about

Thanks
Marc

T23B parameters - finding out what each one does

I have a T23B control on a Hyundai qt-15n

As far as I can tell so far the machine is all working, I have not cut a part yet as I’ve been waiting for some new Makralon and glass for the door before running it

I have the manuals and I have the wiring diagrams which has some parameters in it but I do not have a list of what each user and machine parameter actually controls

Does anybody have a list?

There’s a few things I want to adjust like the speed the turret indexes and the rapid speeds so knowing what each user and machine parameter is for would be great as I don’t want to change something I shouldn’t and the user manual and programming manual only refer to about a dozen parameters

Really appreciate everyone’s help in my recents posts

Many thanks
Marc

M32 FLD Error

Hello

I started getting this error when booting my vqc M32 op.

If I turn it on after a day off it will throw this message after the loading bar. But if I turn it off and on again it will jump right up as it always did when the disk is loaded.

Machine works fine but I still wonder why it's throwing this message on the first boot up.

The 6v battery is 6.8v and was recently replaced. I don't know where the other battery's are.

Can it be a faulty disk or drive? The drive reads on bootup with the green light and the system loads after the reboot no problem.

T-Plus Programming Issue

Using a Mazak Lathe M5, Control is conversational only.

I am trying to machine a piece in two stages. Piece is an 8" Tube, which needs turned on both ends. Once the first operation is complete I need the tool to go into home position. I will flip the piece around and then continue the second operation.

What has been happening is in between units M0, I used UNIT Manual to send tool to home position, but it doesn't read next UNIT M0. Once it goes to home position and the tool changes it continues to run. I need this to stop until I manually hit start to run the second operation.

Can anyone help?

Mazak T plus PLC Signal Screen. What is SP?

I've spent way too much time on this machine but I learned a lot. It is an older multiplex with a M5xx control. After replacing the spindle drive I thought I was home free. Head one runs fine. Head two homes, jogs, spindle spins. You press cycle start with a part in the chuck, nothing happens. No alarms nothing. Acts like an angry wife. Yes the cycle start button is working.

Just before I left for the day I went to the PLC Signals screen and flipped from HD1 to HD2. SP is 1 or 0 depending on which head the switch is on. What is SP?

Thank you,

G'day all,
have just recently started working my H400 with M32 controller. I'm having trouble getting the chamfer program to work. Have tried different size tools and adjusted a couple of parameters and different clearances in the program but no go. Just errors out with either 704: Tool trespassing impossible or 707:Intervention chamfer cutter.

Any ideas???

Battery replacement procedure on T32B quick turn 15

On my Hyundai Qt 15N I have a Mitsubishi unit and the board/slot that says battery also says MC063

The controller is a T32B

Can anybody tell me in advance what battery it will take and where to source them in the uk? I’m happy to buy a genuine battery if still available

What’s the procedure for changing the battery’s,? Is it safe to remove the board whilst the machine is on so it doesn’t lose its parameters etc?

I currently have no battery or parameters issues I just thought it good practice to replace them as the machine is new to me and from what I’ve read if they die suddenly it can cause a lot of issues

Here’s a few pictures on the battery board etc, I can’t read the make or serial number on the Mitsubishi unit as the writing has worn off

Thanks
Marc

Help setting chuck positions on QT6 - 640T

$

Hi,

We purchased a QT6 with 640T control recently and everything seems to work. We have not done much yet, just messed around with creating some programs. We wanted to run some programs left on the control and the ones shown by everything CNC on youtube.

Its not clear to us how to set the hydraulic chuck position operated by the foot pedal. It seems to move from 1.4 close -1.5" open. What if we want to clamp a smaller part say 0.75"?

I can see the M codes for opening and closing, and not ready for that yet. Perhaps Philabuster will have a video on this?

I only have the electrical manual for this machine and have clicked through a few operational manuals for similar lathes, but haven't seen anything helpful yet

Thanks in advance

removing MP630 chuck/actuator?

hey guys,

So i've been messing around with me new to me mp630 (t32-6) and rebuilt the milling spindle on the right hand head and fixed a few other things, and cleaned up a few other things along the way. I thought there was light at the end of the tunnel... turns out the tunnel of light was the draw tube being jammed...

So first - the symptoms:
- chuck solenoids actuate fine - and there is definitely oil at the actuator.
- the draw tube can be seen to move less than 1mm at the actuator end
- the draw tube and the chuck jaws dont move at all.

What i've tried:
- I tried undoing the draw tube nut - to no avail (tried bulk lube - impact gun etc. nothing has worked so far and the slots are starting to look a bit second hand, so i don't want to try too much more if i can find another way)
- I tried next to remove the actuator first. I got all of the bolts undone off the mounting flange, then tried the draw tube nut again - the actuator cylinder has rotated about 1/100th of a turn, but won't go any further (again the draw tube nut is looking pretty average, so i don't want to give it too much go) and the most i can get it apart is about 3mm.
- I then found that it should be possible to pull the front off the chuck with it still mounted up (hopefully giving me better access at stuff if nothing else) so i've removed all the chuck bolts and strapped up the chuck and i can get it about 15mm away from the mounting face, but that's all she's got. no amount of prying etc is moving it any more - i even tried a 3 jaw puller on the ID of the chuck face to no avail.

I'm at a loss - what can i do next to get this happening?

Also the right hand chuck, while it works it only has 2mm of throw on the jaws, and from what i understand a b-212 chuck should have about 10mm of jaw stroke. is there something quick and easy i can check on this? (i'm guessing not but you never know :P

Cheers,
Trav

Mazak T2 - MCU alarm help needed

$

Hello!

On my QT20N with T2 control, during a drilling operation with a 35 mm drill, machine went to NMI Emergency Stop.
I think that Z driver was overloaded.
From that moment on machine doesn't work anymore.
After PowerOn i get same 20 NMI Emergency Stop and on the FX61 board i have MCUAL led ON. Also on control panel NC Alarm is also ON.

On diagnose page on MCU Version I get a strange %2 :A and i dont know if this is beacause of servo drive fail or a FX61 board fail.

May be Z axis overload related to the error shown on screen? I realy need some advices.
