So we've got a Mazak Vertical Center Smart 410A with a 30 tool changer, and one of our operators put a tool holder in backward. When it put that tool into its tool pocket, it broke off the indexing tab on that pocket. So now the tool can turn a little inside the pocket when the carousel turns. Occasionally, (every other week or so) the tool, usually the same one, will come in slightly misaligned. The drive dog on the spindle won't enter the drive slot on the tool holder, and it will stick about 1/2" out of the spindle.
My question is, aside from replacing the broken tool pockets (there are four now), what are my options for working around this issue? Can I shut down certain pockets, so the machine doesn't use them?
