hello everybody

just got my QT8 off the truck and in to the shop spent some time removing panels for paint and cleaning ect and decided that before i go too crazy i should hook up power and air and give her a whirl. I am using a 30 hp soft start rotary phase converter that a friend of mine and I built I have been using the phase converter on my tree mill so I know it is o.k. also used it on the Southbend Magnaturn that just went bye bye. So here is the PROBLEM. every thing checked out good on the lathe until I powered down the machine. I forgot to turn off the main CB on the lathe before I turnescrd off the phase converter and I think I fried part of the Spindle drive, at least that's: where the smoke was coming from. Is the power supply on the top of the Frequol. and where is the best place to get it repaired properly the first time. Am I going to have problems like this all of the time using a Phase Converter or is it just a fluke that maybe something got jostled around during shipping: scratchchin: I will try to post pics later. the Machine is a 1987. On a side note where can I get new doors for this old girl. (look like maybe lexan), also can any one tell me the or recommend where I should hook the manufactured leg of my power in should go on the main CB. Looking at the 100 amp CB from the front I have heard that center is the best for It, any other suggestions?

thanks all

Bob
