I am looking for a good known method of backing up our Mazak machines.
I'm the IT guy, so I don't know too much about our Mazaks, however I've been given the task of making sure we can recover from a full blown crash to loss of tool data, or whatever else may be thrown at me.
I know a "Full Recovery" might be a stretch, but what data would change regularly that I need to keep backed up.
I have all of these machines connected to my local network and can get to the local drives on all of them except our Quickturn 350.
We have one or more of each the following machines:
Mazak Quickturn 250 II (Nexus) - Only has a floppy drive, Quickturn 350M, Quickturn 450-IIM.
1) All out crash recovery - I know in reality this would more than likely be a Mazak tech.
- I'd like to make an "Image" for each one of these machines and have a "standby" hard drive already configured.
2) Data backups - what is the most important data to backup on the machines. How often should I be backing up this data? Daily, Weekly, Monthly etc. I know it'd be based on how often we change the data - I'm just looking for a good rule of thumb.
As a separate question - How do I gain access to the o/s drive on our 350? (no matter what I type in for a user name and password I cannot connect to it via Ethernet) - it asks me for a user name and password, so I know I'm connected to it, but will not take any of the user name/password combinations even though I have created a local admin and gave it a password, shared the "root" of the o/s etc. It is just being stubborn, any ideas with that?
