So, I've heard around here of using the sub spindle as a tail stock.
I've got a few 1" 4140 HT pins that I need to machine 4" of 12tpi thread onto the end of. Haven't had much success without a tailstock in the manual. Tons of chatter, taper in the threads yadda yadda.
Its not a huge amount, and I could do them in the manual, but I figure this is as good a time as any to learn.
Is it possible without a tailstock on this thing?
If not, how do I go about using the sub with a centre?
I would probably just turn a piece to 60 degree, then synch the spindles.
