SQT15M Live Tool Help

I am in the process of restoring a new to us, a long time neglected 1991 SQT15M with T-32. The machine had a decent amount of rust in places as it had sat for a couple of years. Upon tearing down the turret and all of the tool holders for O rings and cleaning we found the live tool gearbox/differential inside the turret to have a plug missing and the to tool mating shaft to be very worn. It looks like the gears on the inside have some pretty decent red rust on them. I have the parts manuals but cannot find whats supposed to go in the threaded hole which is wide open or what is used to lube these gears? Maybe coolant lubricates them?

I have attached pictures of the hole and a view of the end of the shaft through a tool holder hole. I am hoping to just fill the gearbox with penetrating oil and run it very slowly and see how it looks. I don't believe the tool mating shaft is supposed to look like that, like it has slipped a lot before. Is there a way to easily replace the mating shaft? Is it as easy as removing the large 12 sided main turret piece and removing the end cap off of the differential and dropping the mating shaft out for replacement? Looks like in the manual to remove the main horizontal shaft going into this little gearbox involves tearing down the entire thing front to back almost to get it out.
