I have a 2008 HCN 4000 II with a Matrix control. We bought it used, and it didn't come with the part probe. It was described as fully prepped for an MP10 Probe. The previous owner apparently had one in the machine, but kept it as a backup for his other machines so I think I'm only missing the probe. I've come to understand that the MP10 is obsolete and a newer model OSP60 would be my replacement from Renishaw. But my question is, are there other models of probes that will work (MP8, MP700, etc, etc)? There seems to be a selection of probes available on ebay, some look good, some I'm sure probably not so good. Is it worth taking a chance on a used one for half the cost of a new one? Our use for a probe is pretty basic, just hitting a few spots for wpc's. :confused:
