Mazak tool model files

Hi everyone,

I work on a Integrex I-200st with SmoothX control.
Does anyone know how to import cad files of tools?
I would like to use them in virtual machine but I don't really know what types of file are allowed and where to place them.
I suppose there is a specific folder in Windows.

Thanks all!

P.s. Feel free to delete (and tag me the right one) this thread if already treated.

tool table interference, vcn530c, parameter issue?

Hello everyone,

I have a small issue on our mill. When trying to jog the tool down to the table I get an alarm "1101, interference "too1 #1", interference "table". This happens around 2 inches above the table. This is a used machine and I can only assume that the previous owner had this in place to keep from crashing the machine. I would like to know how to remove, or shorten the barrier

Mazak Quick Turn Nexus 350 - Should I Buy It?

A friend of mine has this lathe surplus to his needs. He just replaced it with a live tool lathe of similar size and capacity, just newer and better equipped.

There is nothing wrong with it, he just won't need it anymore once the new one gets installed. They use this machine every day. It holds tolerances, makes good parts. They maintain their equipment.

I believe it is a 2005 machine, 30 HP. I don't have the exact specs in front of me, but I'm pretty sure it will swing 26.5" max, turn 16.5" and has 49" between centers. I can't remember what the spindle bore is. Pretty sure it's not the big bore, but maybe 3" or so?

These pictures are after they just turned some plastic of some kind, so the inside is covered in little black specs of some kind of plastic. Normally this machine turns stainless conveyor parts.

I'm not worried about the condition at all, I know it to be a good operating machine.

He's asking 30k for it, I think, although we haven't actually negotiated anything yet. I'm sure he will throw in some tooling. I know it has a Kitagawa hydraulic chuck that is included. Probably will have a nice Royal live center and some turning tools as well. That's not a big deal. I know the lathe he just bought came with a whole Vidmar full of tooling, so I'm willing to suspect he'll be ok with letting some go with this machine.

I wasn't really in the market for a lathe right now, but this seems like a good opportunity. He is willing to carry the note, and doesn't need the money right away so I can get it under power and making parts before I need to pay for anything.

It's a bit bigger than I was thinking for my first CNC lathe, but I also know that there isn't a lot of competition in my area for bigger lathe work. Everyone I know around here has small lathes and subs out their bigger turning to shops in other cities. I can probably drum up some work for it without too much hassle.

I don't love the idea of buying a machine basically on spec. But at the same time, it's hard to get turning work without a lathe.

Thoughts?

Mazak Vqc - 15/40 lost parameters????

Good afternoon my Fellow machine people.

Can anyone help me bring this machine back to life???

I have returned to work for a small engineering company I've previously worked for on a couple of occasions. They have a Mazak VQC-15/40 machining centre with Mazatrol Cam-2 control, which has not been used since I last worked for them some 2 years ago. Due to the lack of maintenance like most small firms they haven't changed the batteries and when I powered it up, it looks to me the machine has lost its parameters?

After finding a post online I located 2 batteries in the back one on board FX784-8 and one on FX727, the post said there should be a FX784-9 too but this board is missing, am guessing that's for a 4 Axis which this machine hasn't got installed?

I went ahead and replaced these batteries but it wont let me do anything else with the machine now.

Can anyone advise where to begin getting this machine running again, I do have a floppy disk with parameters back up on but have no way of transferring them over yet.

What would be the first step????

Thanks in advance for advise.

Ive attached some pictures of the machines current state.

Mazak QT15 Lube System Issues

$

My problems started with a slideway alarm which occurred because it was low in oil. I filled it up and was not able to get the alarm to stay cleared. After manual pumping and restarting the machine several times. The machine is a 1988 and is in super nice condition. Still, I figured I maybe should pull the way covers back and look things over.

The Lube MMXL-II pump seemed to be sticking. So I worked on that some and found another on ebay for $60, so I bought that too. I put the ebay pump on since it seemed better. Still, even after quite a bit of pumping the system does not seem to hold pressure. By that I mean I would expect the pump to take a while to discharge the oil into the system. The plunger goes right down in a few seconds. I've traced all the lines and can't see any leaks. My experience has been that the metering units tend to clog up and not pass oil not to open up.

I think my next step will be to take the 3 main lines off at each end point (X, Z, and tailstock) and block them there with some fittings I have and see if it holds pressure with these lines dead headed. Then maybe order all new metering units since that's probably a good thing to replace either way.

Anybody got any other suggestions?

Does MazView Work On The New SmoothG Control

We just replaced our oldest SQT T+ for the new 200MY SmoothG.
Very nice machine.

I use MazView on T+ and works great after making my own wire but I have no clue if it's even compatible with the new SmoothG control and has no RS232 outlet.
I sent 2 emails asking MazView if it works on SmoothG with no response.
If it does work on SmoothG I would be most great full to know the details or settings in the SmoothG control to talk to MazView.

Thanks

Hi all,

I am getting intermittent faults on both Y or Z axis (mostly Y right now. Most are a sevro lag excess fault, machine runs fine otherwise. When I had this happen on another machine it was because the timing belt had a bad spot and was slipping. This belt seems to be in really good condition, anyone have any ideas on what else to check?

Thanks!

DPRNT on Mazatrol T-2

I have a QT-15 lathe with Mazatrol T-2 control. And the EIA option.

I would like to be able to send messages out the RS-232 port so I can remotely monitor the machine. But it doesn't appear that there is DPRNT functionality. Whenever I put a "POPEN" or "PCLOS" or "DPRNT" I get a 602 alarm "AFTER ADDRESS DATA NOTHING".

I don't see any DPRNT or anything that can send to one of the RS-232 ports in the manual.

Is there any thing I have overlooked or is it just not possible on this machine?

Thank you!

Mitsubishi power supply repair

After 10 years, it looks like my QT6T finally needs a significant repair. Can't complain though. The spindle power supply has been slowly dying, faulting out after a couple hours of use. A couple hours eventually turned into 1 hour, then 30 minutes, etc. Cooling fan inside the power supply is clean and operational. Troubleshooting with the Mitsubishi maintenance manual leads to the conclusion "replace unit". I found plenty of used units on eBay , but they all are located in China. Is Mitsubishi repairing these? If not, is there an authorized shop that does? Are new replacements available? Power supply is MDS-A-CR-55. I would like to remain down less than 1 week, if possible. Thanks!

Adding Programmable Boring Head on VMC

Has anyone added a programmable boring head like the D'Andrea TA-Center to one of their Mazak VMCs?
I don't understand all the details involved with getting the NC unit to control the U-Axis. We have older mills running 640M and 640M Nexus.
Just curious if anyone here could provide some insight.

mazak/hundai qt15n chuck sometimes wont open so alarms out when bar pulling

$

Has anybody with a mazak or hyundai qt15n ever experianced the chuck not opening when commanded on occasion?

Sometimes it take me 2 or 3 presses of the foot pedal to get the chuck to open which is no real issue when running parts 1 at a time but when i set up to bar pull and want to leave it running sometimes it will be fine for 50 parts and then another time it will not work for 25 of the 50 parts so the chuck times out and the errors say 'chuck clamp time exceeded'

When you press the pedal you can hear a solenoid/relay set up click which is obviously to do with the hydraulic pressure switches but ive found nothing obvious, oil level is good, hydrualic fluid is good, foot pedal switch is good

Without completely stripping down the entire hydrualic system which i dont want to do, does anybody have any ideas?

Thanks
Marc

Multiplex 610 troubleshooting

Need help getting ahead in troubleshooting a Mazak Multiplex 610.

Background: When starting the machine there is a red alarm, alarm code 028 "print circut table malfunction" (see attached picture). The alarm disappears after a number of reboots. Furthermore, the load meter in X on page 2 is unusually high in the event of an alarm (approx. 70%). Also experiences that the load meter in X is unusually high even when the machine is stationary.

There is also a noise from the X axis when it goes in fast feeding.

Have felt mechanically on the both axis, side 1 and 2, and experience that the X on side two moves heavier. Feels that the ball screw is slightly heavier on page 2.

Thinking: Anyone who has experienced similar problems? The alarm says defective circuit board, action to replace circuit board RF01 which seems to be a card that is on the servo board. According to retailers, this card can not be bought separately, but you need to buy an entire servo. Have seen that on eBay there are RF01 cards to buy.
Anyone who can help me with tips / suggestions on how I can move forward?

Integrex 100 / Mazatrol Fusion 640mt - Alarm 22 Feedback System Malfunction

Hello. I’m trying to power up / home an Integrex 100 that’s been sitting a few months. After the system boots, the following alarm appears:
“22 Feedback System Malfunction (5,0,&0025)”

According to the manual for Alarm 22 ( , , 25):
Cause - This alarm implies decreases in the voltage of the backup battery for the absolute position data detection circuit of the control card.

Action - Re-homing is required since the absolute position data may have been lost. Replace the battery.

Although, the machine is dead in the water with this alarm displaying. It will not home, it will not move/jog, it will not clear.

Any suggestions on next steps to take? (besides replacing a possibly dead battery) Thanks in advance!

Mazak SQT10MS rear sub-spindle alignment and gib adjustment

$

Hello,

I have a grandma SQT10MS.

Several years ago, I had the rear spindle rebuilt. My machine repair guy re-installed it, adjusted the gibs, etc.

Currently, I have been running the same production part for several months now. It is really a non-critical part, so have
ignored what I believe is a sub-spindle alignment / gib issue. That is until today....The part has been running well overall until now.

Upon pulling the last two parts off from the machine, the machining of the OD and OD threading coming off the sub spindle is way off. That is, on a 3/8"-24 thread, I can physically feel that the part feels like it has flats on it. It almost a triangular feel to it.

In addition, I have notice for the past several months of machining, that when machining on the sub, I can visible see the spindle 'lift' very slightly when putting pressure on the part during machining. I knew it was doing this, but never caused a problem with the quality of the male threaded part being made. I have been more worried about getting parts off from the machine.

In addition, I believe part of the same overall problem, I have had to reduce the transfer speed of the sub spindle to the front spindle for a transfer down to a slow 20% transfer speed. If I transfer any faster to the front, I can see the sub-spindle chatter on the rails. Literally, it looks like it has a slight bounce to it.

Given the transfer speed, chatter issue on the transfer, and now the problem with machining in the back, I have not choice but to address the issue(s). It needs a serious alignment of the sub spindle / gib adjustment.

So far, in order to check alignment, I turned a short bar in the front spindle. Then, I moved sub-spindle forward toward the front spindle. Attached a gauge to the sub and swing it around the machined bar in the front spindle. The guage swings +/_ .040" on a full revolution! WOW! It appears that this .040" on the swing is in the vertical 'X' direction.

I then skin cut a bar in the rear spindle, approximately 8" long in order to check for taper. After doing this, it seems there is approximately .005" taper over the 8" length.

So, the questions are:

1. Am I evaluating this correctly?
2. What is the proper procedure for adjusting the gibs, not to tight, not too lose on this machine in the rear?
3. What is the proper method for checking and adjustment of the alignment of the sub spindle to the front spindle?

I am attaching some pics to this post. Are these two blocks somehow used for the adjustment? If so, how? Under the wiper cover, there is the adjustment for the gibs. Does anyone have proper detail on how to adjust the gibs on this machine?

Thanks in advance for any advice or comments!

thx
Mike
