M32 Servo drives

Well i'm back with another question. I had my H400 all sorted and was programming ready to make some parts when it shut down on Estop. I restarted it and had a 30 no signal error and all the axis drives have an overtravel error. The spindle control had an E7 error and all the drives have a 21 error on them. Any ideas? I can't seem to find much info on the drives on the MEAU site and I don't have much on the spindle controller.
Over to the Mazak gurus :D:D:D

Add more speed to driven tools.

I have successfully changed the range of speed on the driven tools on my QT10ATC from 0-1500 to 0-2500 by changing size of the pulleys and parameters.
But thinking of a different way of doing it on my Multiplex 620 so I dont loose torque.
Both my ST30ATC and MP620 hast the same FR-A500 driving the motor that at least looks the same, they also have the same pulleys but my ST30ATC has 0-3000rpm and my MP620 only has 1500rpm.
The different is a parameter on the FR-A500 that is setting the maximum frequency that is set double on the ST30ATC (I think it was set to 60Hz on MP620 and 120Hz on ST30ATC).
Could there be any damage on motor or drive if I double the maximum frequency?
The MP620 did have different options of 1500, 3000 or 4500 but that was done by different pulleys.

How to set Z offset for sub spindle

We have a Mazak SQT 18 MSY with mazatrol T-plus control, Our program machines the 1st end in main spindle, then it transfers part to sub spindle to machine 2nd end. During the transfer process it parts of the work piece. Everything is working Great, until We get to the end of the stock, and there is not enough stock to transfer the work piece and part off. So, we stopped program after it turns the 1st end, take out work piece and cut to length in saw. After our part run was over, we were going to put saw cut parts in sub spindle and finish second end. This is were our problem is, We wrote a simple little program for finishing just the second end. We can not figure out how to set the Z offset on sub spindle without doing a work piece transfer process. Any and All help would be GREATLY appreciated! I have read the manual and looked at the sample programs, can"t seem to figure it out. THANKS

Coolant problem

Hello,

so we have a Mazak Quick Turn Smart 200M and we filled it up with a semi synthetic coolant. It was okay for a while but all of a sudden the coolant becomes diluted. Oils float to surface, and the % of the concentrate mixture goes down. It's like the concentrate evaporates or something.
We also installed an oil skimmer, but oil keep coming back.

We had no problems with this coolant before, now all of a sudden it has become a problem.

Thanks for the answers!

B axis alignment and loose part

I got an Integrex 400Y (2001) with fusion 640MT. Discovered that the B axis is off by about 0.16 degrees. I have read about people adjusting it both mechanically and in the controller but not how. (read a description somewhere but it must have been for a newer controller since mine only ha 1 MF and 1 machine button, and didn't find it in the menus what they wrote)

No idea of the machines history.

Between the spindle head and the X axis saddle (or whatever it's called) there is a ring. It has a marking to it and a marking on the spindle head. I can move that ring by hand more then a millimeter no matter if the B axis is clamped or not.

If i go to lock the B axis in either the horizontal or vertical position and it moves to either of those positions in a counter clockwise direction it sounds just normal but if i go to either of those positions in a clockwise movement, it makes an extra sound and i can see the ring move just a little bit (less than a millimeter). It is also visible that the B axis rotates a little bit when i clamp it and it makes that extra sound.

Anyone got any idea?

Lower turret moving when trying to use as tailstock with live center

$

I have a Mazak HQR with dual spindle upper and lower turret. I am trying to use the lower turret with a spring loaded center in one of the tool positions. We do this all the time on Mazak integrex and don't run into this problem.

After positioning the center into the part, and the next unit is called to turn using the upper head, the lower turret wants to make a movement in X which I am assuming is actually going to machine home position. This does not happen on our integrex machines and it seems that there may need to be a parameter change or another M code that must be used to stop the movement. I would actually prefer to stop all lower turret movement with an M code if one exists so that there is not a situation that comes up which under normal Mazatrol operation makes it force to home position, example single process running, which has happened on our integrex. After the single process has run it sends both turrets back to home, and as you can imagine is not good for the part or live center.

Thanks for any ideas!

QT8 Parameters, Alarms, Re-initialization,and power supply failure. Need Help.

I bought a qt8 Mazatrol T2 and got it home. It has been in storage some time and the batteries have died. This corrupted the parameters and data. I recorded the parameters such as they were, and performed the re-init from service bulletin 0989-002. The electrical manual for this machine was not with the machine. So I do not have the parameters. The machine behaves much better after the re-init. I have two hard alarms 20,and 204 spindle controller. I found a post on here about the power supply dying on the spindle drive. I believe mine has died, there were no leds lit. I checked the ac voltage to the drive it was 230v and there is 230v at the power supply input connection as well.I removed the power supply and powered it on the bench out of circuit. The yellow led lights for a second then goes out. I have electronics equipment and I will try and diagnose the power supply. I called mazak on the parameters, the tech was helpful, and hopeful. He said someone at the factory can get me those parameters for a minimum charge of $500.00 I got a box full of books with the lathe, some of them are for other machines. I have elect manuals for qt35,and qt10n but I dont think I can use the parameters for those, something rather important is going to be different. I have some more reading to do tonight in the parameters manual, but I know some of the guys on here have been here and done this. Any help you can give I thank you.

Hydraulic Pump for QT20

Hi all,

Does anyone know where I might find a hydraulic pump for a QT-20 (1998, T plus control)?

Its a PVP16X2969-12 PARKER PUMP.

Parker wants 3800 for a new one, Mazak wants 6800 :skep:.... I have to think someone has one used somewhere given how common of a machine it is.

Thanks!
Tom

Does anyone have the software to print Maztrol programs ?

I have a few 10s of Mazatrol programs from the QT lathe that I sold. Now I would like to look at some of the programs for reference when I program my new lathe.
Anyone have the software to view/print mazatrol programs ? And would be willing to print them to PDF for me. I am willing to pay for the time.

Would you buy a T-2 machine (T32 vs T2)

Hi all,

I have a hobby shop I occasionally take work for, considering picking up a qt15 with T2 control. I'm wondering what the limitations of the T2 are, and what the biggest differences are between t2 / t32.

Looking at late 80's - 90's machines (budget) so maybe a better question is - Would you still buy a machine built in 1989 if its not being relied on to pay rent?

Thank you!

I downloaded tool data from our Mazak Integrex onto a USB stick. Loaded it into the Mazak Desktop software. I am trying to do 2 things. First I want to load the tool list into the software tool data page, second I want to print out a list of the tools. So the problem is I cannot figure out how see the list I downloaded on the stick. Does anyone know how to do this?

Mazak - SQT10MS

Hello,

I have a 94 Mazak SQT10MS. She is a grandma, but makes great parts when she is running.

As shown in the model number, this lathe has a rear spindle with live tooling.

Yesterday, the timing belt that drives the rear spindle back and forth on the gibbs (z) snapped..OUCH!

Of course it broke during a transfer.

Upon quickly looking under the back of the machine with a flash light, I thought it was going to be an easy belt swap out, but looking at it a little closer today, it appears it may be more of a challenge than I originally anticipated.

I still need to pull the coolant reservoir so it is out of the way and I have easier access.

I have already purchased a new timing belt which is a # 270L150.

The belt pulleys will be sitting right in front of me. The one toward the back side of the machine is completely open
and easy to slip the belt over. But, the pulley that is attached to the end of the ball screw has a 'cage' which allows the 'end coder' to be mounted outside of it at the end of the shaft.

I am wondering if any has changed this belt or one similar before. I am going to crawl under the machine shortly and was hoping someone has some insight about how to install the belt on the pulley/endcoder end?

I have not look close enough yet, but I do not see any bolts that hold the cage in place and thus the end coder in place.

The cage/end coder need to come off I believe. Is there a timing issue if I move or rotate the end-coder? Or, not because there are limit switches for travel?

Any hints or suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks much!
Mike

Mazak Solution to impotent memory in Smart control Software tool like Fanuc perhaps?

$

Does Mazak have a PC Tool for memory card Program editing and operation, like Fanuc has? Or are all the Mazak Smart control customers punished with no functional system memory? I'm reading a document about some half baked drip feed option customers might have to buy, which doesn't resolve the loss of program functionality in the "Smart" control. The Fanuc software tool (PC TOOL FOR MEMORY CARD PROGRAM EDITING/OPERATION) allows flash 2GB storage seen as fully editable and restartable program memory. It formats the card so that the control can see the program as internal program memory.

So far no logical answer, why call it "Smart" is that like when something has a negative attribute and you market it in the opposite way? Like when a handle is not ergonomic so they call it an "ergogrip" for marketing purposes?

Mazatrol T Plus Illegal Sequence Data error messgae - help needed

After wanting to get into CNC for the longest time, I’ve finally pulled the trigger. I bought a Mazak SQT 15M with a T Plus controller and a Makino RMC 55 A 10 and set up shop in our home garage. It took some time getting set up, but the machines are finally up and running. Now all I have to do is learn how to use them. Oh the fear, what have I got myself into?

A bunch of you guys here on PM sold me on going with an old Mazak and learning Mazatrol. Found my Mazak at a machine shop down the street that was making room for some newer Mazaks. So that saved me some money on a long distance move for a 12,000 pound machine. One of their machinists comes by to tutor me on weekends when we’re both available. He’s really good and knows his stuff. To say I’m a newbie would probably be giving me too much credit, but the pieces are slowly coming together.

I got stuck on a simple part I’m making and hoping I can get some help here. I ran this particular part about a dozen times and it came out fine. I was reviewing the program and noticed that one of the FVs was highlighted with a light green box and it caught my attention. This FV was set at 836 (typo?) and the other ones were set to 750. So I changed it to 750 and the text highlighting disappeared. So far, so good.

But I must have inadvertently changed something else in the program because the next one of these parts I tried to run stops at PNo 5 with error message 609 Illegal Sequence Data. The message is 809 Illegal Sequence Data when I run a Tool Path Check. To the right of that message is ( 6, 6, 1) I’ve spent hours poring over the manuals and looking online but can’t figure out what it is.

Don’t know if this matters, but next to PNos 4 and 7 is a white plus sign in a blue box. Since the program makes it past P4 I didn’t think that would anything to do with it. But …?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hello all

I have a MAZAK VTC 800 matrix2 Controller. Alarm 366 battery low atc arm sould be a easy fix. changed alot of em earlier but newer to not be able to Clear alarm With Power off/on

Replaced the Mrj2 battery With a New, measured it to be 3,67V before swap. Turned off/on machine but the battery alarm is still there.
When i open the mrj2 setup software and change the axis to ATC arm, it says low voltage 2.8v. I measured the "old" battery also to be 3,66V

The plug is correctly plugged in

I have also measured the other 2 and all batterys are good. But im quite sure im changing on the correct drive cause there is only one of them blinking AL

Anyone experienced this or have any advice, would be much appreciated

Mazak 515/40 Ballscrew

$

Hi

I have a Mazak 515/40 Mill.

On the Z axis when it is in rapid the machine whines I have noise coming from the bottom. I was told that the upper and lower bearings have to be changed because its apparently normal

I was explained that this machine has no counterweight for the head and that the life of the bearings has to be changed 4 times during the life of the Ballscrew.

Is it possible to be done by myself or does it take a Mazak tech to do this?
How do you know if the Ball Screw is not wore out, and if it is is there a place where i could get a reconditioned one?

I am wondering if anybody has been in the same situation and please point me in the right direction.
