Mazak VQC15/40 10000rpm spindle oil mist lubrication

Hello!

Just got my hands on machine trying to save it. Without better knowledge I think it consumes a lot of air. Anyone has a better understanding how spindle air-oil lubrication should work. More specific, is it meant to blow air into nozzles all the time? Pump works periodically providing oil to distribution block but air blow is constantly on.

This is the pump unit:

Automatic Drill Length Compensation - MAZATROL 640M

$

Machine: MAZAK MAZATECH FH-6800
Control: MAZATROL 640M

Does anyone know the parameters to control the automatic drill length compensation?

I’m guessing there would be 1 parameter to switch the automatic length comp on and off and another parameter to set the automatic drill point angle or percentage of the drill diameter.

A [CUT-ANG INPUT] function appears in the tool data page when you move down to the [LENGTH COMP.] field.
When you highlight [CUT-ANG INPUT] and enter 180 or 0 then press [INPUT] the machine automatically sets [LENGTH COMP.] to 0, but when the tool length is reset it reverts back to the automatic length comp value.

Holes in a part were drilled too deep due to the length comp being set to zero then the tool length being reset without remembering to set the length comp back to zero.
I would like to have length comp set at zero as default to avoid this happening again.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Mazak - SQT10MS - Illegal Exception

Hello,

Old granny Mazak SQT10MS

About 4 months ago, the machine was having problems with the T32-3 control. It came up, just did not could not touch buttons, etc. It was unresponsive.

So, based on communicating with Mazak, they ultimately recommended replacing the MC116 board in the backend.

Finally getting around to it, we replaced the board, re-initialized, and then loaded all of the parameters.

I thought we had it! The machine comes up fine, homes out, etc.

So, today, I was up to trying a simple hole drilling cycle. Just a simple program.

Each time, the machine goes toward the part. When it just gets to the face of the part to start to drill, the machine kills (literally, machining stops, spindle coasts to a stop, control stays on) and shows the attached Illegal exception on the screen.
-------
Illegal exception $0010
Error at or near $00029F96
-------

Then I had a discussion with Mitsubishi. He asked if I have a 411 and 419 cards. Yes, I have both. He said OK and he believes that the problem still resides in the MC116 board.

So, thinking that it was possible a chip, I took the chips that could be removed out from their socket on the OLD MC116 board and swapped them with the chips on the new (used) MC116 board. Fired it up...aaaaand....Same thing!

The only thing I have not changed out yet are the 2 larger chips on the MC116 board. They look like CPU's. I am considering trying this.

Any other ideas or recommendations? It turns out that I can get a refurbished board from Mit for $4,250 !!!!!! REFURBISHED...HOLY SH** !!
Not sure I want to put that kind of money into grandma here.

Please let me know if you have any other ideas of what I could look at.

Thank You,
Mike

hey guys,
I'm a supervisor in a machine shop that has a mazak integrex as stated, the man running the lathe went to disassemble the jaws to clean behind them since he had been running bronze, and well the hex tool you have to use to release the jaw has gotten stuck. I was wondering if this has happened to anyone else and if so what did you do to get the tool released? Thank you in advance.

Mazak - SQT10MS - EATING hydraulic oil

$

Hello,

Mazak SQT10MS

machining a bar only to come back to a red flashing light. The T32-3 control said something to the effect 'low hydraulic pressure'.

So, I checked the hydraulic oil and sure enough, it was low. Topped it off and started running.

Upon pulling the parts from the tray, I noticed that they seem to be oily. So, putting two and two together,

I assume that the hydraulic oil is somehow finding its way into the coolant tank.

There was a leak (looks like coolant, but wondering if it is coolant/oil) coming from the back edge of the turret. Leaks

slightly when running and a big leak when the turret rotates.

So, I pulled this little block off the bottom side of the turret head thinking that maybe I had a bad o-ring. Replace the o-rings and started running.

Seems to have helped the leaking a little bit, but wasn't long before I the hydraulics started making noise again.

Dang it! Low hydraulic oil.

So, I filled it back up and now trying to diagnose where the oil could be going to.

Does anyone know if the hydraulics have anything to do with this coolant block? It seems a rubber nose on the front of this block is supposed to close the coolant
passage when coolant is called for and then open when it is not called for or there is a turret rotation to a new tool. Do hydraulics push this rubber
nose in and out? Or, is it the coolant pressure that does this?

Where else could there be a hydraulic leak? Inside the turret somewhere? What rotates this turret? Hydraulic or electric?

Please let me know what other ideas you might have that I can look at. Need to get this machine up ASAP.

thx much

Mike

Mazak remote (offsite/over internet) control

$

So I have a number of older mills and one lathe (2 with M plus controls, a M2 control, a M32 control, a M32B control, and a T2 control) and have this crazy idea of remotely controlling them.

I have a number of production jobs that have a longer run time, and since my shop is 30 minutes away from home it would be nice to monitor and control them remotely.

A security system setup is easy for monitoring what is happening inside the mill and another pointed at the screen could let you see what the control is doing (although pulling the video feed directly would be preferred), using soft keys, cycle start and feed hold would be the challenging part. Any ideas on if this can be done or if someone already has done something similar?

Thanks!

Hello, I just moved my machine shop to a new location. Once we were ready to fire up the Mazak Mill we are getting an alarm while trying to home out the machine. "Z" and "Y" will both home out. I am getting a X axis soft limit alarm while trying to home out the "X" axis. However the machine column is only about to the center of the table in X when I get this alarm. Any suggestions? Do I need to remove the soft covers and turn the ball screw closer to home position before trying to home out?

Mazak VQC 20/50A delay between units

So I have a VQC 20/50a that runs pretty decent but have noticed that it moves quickly within a unit or when going to a new unit with a different tool but when you have the same tool prioritized to be used within several units it will stop and wait with a long pause before moving to the next unit. I thought that maybe there was a parameter that would control this time/delay, but haven't been able to find anything. Is this just the case of an old machine that that is how it works or is there some parameter that I am missing?

Thanks

Charging backup batteries

I have a T2 machine with 2 backup batteries. The machine will end up being unpowered for a few months and I'm wondering if I can charge the backup batteries directly while they are still on the board.

I have an older 3.6v charger for a black and decker rechargable powertool of somekind but it outputs up to 1 amp at 3.6v. I'm concerned that connecting it directly to the battery terminals will damage something.

Are my fears unfounded? If anyone has any experience trying to charge the backup batteries with an external charger please let me know!

Thank you!

Mazak Matrix2 i630v Integrex - Macro Variable List

$

I am searching for a EIA Macro Variable Listing, in general, for Mazak / Matrix2 / Integrex / i630v. (Future Usage)
Specifically, the variable for the pre-call tool number in the standby pocket.
I know that #3020 will give me the current Spindle Tool.

We have the option for Tool Breakage Detection Outside the Machining Area (M55/M56).

The procedure call by the book is:
T01 (First Tool)
M06
(TOOL PATH)
(END OF TOOL PATH)
T02 (Pre-Call Next Tool - Standby Pocket)
M55 (or M56) (Check For Breakage T01)
M06 (Load T02 - Place T01 in Standby Pocket For Breakage Detection)

In my programs, I typically pre-call the next tool in the same line as my original tool call/tool change.
ie. "T01 M06 T02"

I am not sure there is a need to pre-call the next tool a second time, before the M55/M56 command.
But if it is necessary, I want to keep my normal tool change/pre-call before the path, and then make the second pre-call using a variable (tool loaded in standby pocket).
That way, if for some reason the original pre-call number is changed, it will not be missed at the second pre-call, before the M55/M56.

TIA!

FR-SE - Over Voltage (Converter) Error

Hi Brains trust.

trying to resolve an intermittent error with the FR-SE-2 spindle drive.

The drive is tripping out on over Voltage (Converter) somewhat randomly.

A week or so ago, I was in the middle of a cut and had the spindle drive trip on over voltage.

I checked the waveforms and found 1 Waveform missing so I have ordered replacement DK434 driver chips and installed it today.

Waveforms looks fine, including the response times etc.

I ran the usual warm up cycle and all went fine.

Then while running a very light cut (3000rpm - 12mm tool - 0.1mm/tooth feed - 1mm stepover/ 4mm DOC, it tripped out again on over voltage.

I reset it and reran the cut again (sped up through air cutting)and it tripped again.

I dropped the spindle speed to 2500 and feed down a bit also and it managed to complete the cycle ~ 25 mins.

Then while I was thinking about the next test to debug the problem (with the spindle stopped and in home position), the error occurred again with the spindle stationary.

I've had a look around and can't seem to find much on this.

Has anyone come across this error and resolved it or have any suggestions on where to look?

Cheers

Mick

QT10 turret end cap removal

Simple question are there any surprises to
removing the end cover on a QT10 turret
I'm replacing the way cover wipers and such

problem is the PO ran a bunch of stainless with the
chips caught between the wiper and actually wore a large dip in the
surface.
bad enough that it probably wont seal very well.

there appears to be 7 bolts holding the thing on.
is it any more complicated then remove the bolts and pull it off,
and the reverse to re install it?

see photo for more clarity that's the part I'm referring to

Hi, I've just been to look at a SQT200MS 1998 T+ lathe that's being sold at auction. Whilst inspecting the machine there was a loud air leak coming from the main spindle area, not knowing this machine I can't think of anything in that area that would require air, any thoughts anyone?

Using tool eye for broken tool detection, Integrex 200IISY

Hello all,

I'm trying to use the tool eye for broken tool detection and don't know how to go about it. All I know is G36 is used but that's all. Is checking for a broken tool with the tool eye possible? All I need is Z tool length, not X. I'm using 1mm EM in titanium and want to check it in auto mode. If anyone has some NC I can review I could sure use it.

Machine is 2001 Integrex 200IISY with 640MT controller.

Thanks in advance!

QT10-N, T-Plus Control
I have a 1 1/2 x 8 internal thread. I've been using a boring bar (93 / 35) to put the relief groove on the inside. It's working fine but the problem I'm having is it's packing up with chips before the finish pass. And what I would like to do is have it retract and stop before the finish pass so I can pull the chips out.

I was helping out a friend on his qt-6 with a tplus control. There was a ecsessive internal hydraulic leak in turret lock cylinder. Removed lock cylinder and replaced all O-rings. When putting turret together. Turret is moving when locking and unlocking. My question is does anyone know the procedure to adjust/set turret home position?
