Mazak Multiplex T32-6

I have this machine on the floor, sent from a sister company running one particular job. I'm putting another job in there now and when watching the machinist run the first piece, I see him running from the position screen. I'm told this is the only place they can see the program execute and it's one line at a time on Top Right. I gave him a program where each section had 1 N number, i.e. N0001 T101, N0002 T303 and he couldn't use it because the only way he knows where he is at is by the N number. This is worse than the old Allen Bradley controls. I have to believe that were missing something here. He called up the program page and cycle started the program and the machine started but the program was not tracking with the machine. I assume there are others in the forum that have this machine, is there parameters that control the operators panel?

Thanks,

Bob

Decelerate spindle start? (E-670)

So we think the turning spindle climbs up to max rpm way too fast, and I have looked for a way to slow it down to no avail. No regular parameter controlls this afaik, and my knowledge about 1131 parameters is lacking.

Does anyone know how to do it? And - is it possible to find a list of those "hidden" parameters and what they mean? Of course the service guys refuse to provide information about it..

QT20 T Plus Z Axis Won’t Home

Hello, I recently purchased a Mazak QT20 lathe with a T Plus control. Everything worked fine (minus quill retract) when I inspected it prior to purchase. Machine was rigged professionally and transported to my shop but the previous owner did not install any kind of shipping brackets prior to disconnecting it from power. My fault for not confirming this prior to decommissioning.

Fast forward to today when I finally get power and air to the machine. The x axis homes fine but the z axis won’t home. If I jog the machine in the Z+ direction I get a soft travel alarm about 1” BEFORE the limit switch. This leads me to believe that the z axis move a bit during transportation and therefore it’s not quite sure where it is.

Has anyone ran into this issue before? If so, how do I fix it? I’ve seen some posts with similar issues in the X axis being able to temporarily adjust the X+ soft limit value. Once they home the machine then they simply set it back to the original value. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Matrix Nexus - MANL PRG - How to use Radius Compensation and Tool Wear?

Hello people. How can I use tool nose radius compensation and tool wear compensation in a MANL PRG unit? Is there some kind of M/G-code that activates it (other than G41/G42) or maybe a parameter? Thanks!

These two units should go to the same coordinates but they don't.

Matrix Nexus - 807: Illegal Format

Hi. I'm getting error 807: Illegal Format when I add a radius to the edges of a chamfer in a MANL PRG unit. The same chamfer in BAR OUT works fine and if I remove the two 0.1 radii then MANL PRG works as well. What could be the reason for this?

Edit:
Actually, I may have found the answer to my own question. Seems the R-code is only for right-angle corners. For an "Arbitrary Angle Corner" it needs a ,R-code. Why this distinction, I have no idea. Now the problem is I don't see any way of inputting a ,R-code in a MANL PRG unit. Does this mean I'm forced to use G2 instead?

MANL PRG stops a few blocks before the first R 0.1 value

Mazak VQC-15/40 bus error

Couple of days ago new type of error appeared. System boot resulted into memory error message on bottom of start-up screen. I know the initialization procedure, I've done it several times successful in past. But this time this does not work. Usually when system disk is read there is a progress bar on bottom of screen and you can see some sort of confirmation that system load is completed. But now there is no progress bar and memory error appears. And next reboot will give this kind of screen:

Controller is M32 with MC111 and MC121 CPUs. Service manual does not give too much information, stating to contact Mitsubishi when first three leds are lit on MC111 and MC121:

Both CPUs have also led 4 on, that should mean watchdog error:

Can it be anything else than CPU-A or B has failed?

Mazak Nexus Tailstock

Mazak Nexus tool path in Mazatrol to avoid tailstock.
Need advice here,I have recently bought a Mazak QT-100 Nexus
I am used to T2 control, this is my first Nexus.
With the T2 I had no problem with tail barriers etc
With the Nexus, when using tailstock, i am having to do programs in manual, to avoid collision,
with the live centre.
I have optimized the tailstock parameters to suit the centre and tailstock dimensions.
I have not yet checked if setting material OD much larger than actual in top line of program
makes a difference, as i am still running this job in manual.
Any info appreciated.

Quick Turn 10N Safety Switch Function / Blowing Fuses

I am a relatively new owner of a 1987 Quick Turn 10N. I got it a few weeks ago and it was packed with chips and really dirty. I powered it up to start with to ensure that it had made the move ok and everything worked fine. This Safety switch (on the back side of the machine) got moved to the on position during the move and caused fuses to blow until it was moved to the off position.

After a cleaning for a couple of weeks with it powered on and off I got a #9 alarm (Detecting No Signal X) and heard clicking coming from the rear cabinet. I powered down the machine and disconnected the power completely so as not to trip the safety switch. The cabinet was very clean inside and nothing looked out of place. I was really impressed with this 35 year old machine.

When I reconnected the power and turned on the main, all of the fuses blew. I have looked through all of the manuals that I got with the machine and can't find any mention of this switch or its function. I suspect that it causes the 3 phases to go to ground so that you can't go into the cabinet when it is energized but I am not sure. Maybe there is a specific sequence that I am not following.

So, can someone explain how this safety switch works and how it should be set? Also, if you have any other ideas of why I could suddenly be blowing fuses or what the source of the #9 alarm is, that would be appreciated also.

To clarify on the switch, turning to the left is 'Off' and to the right is 'On'.

Thanks in advance.
Sean

Mazak QT15N Conveyor Hook up

Hi Folks,

I'm still getting things running on the QT15N that I bought. I'm just getting around to hooking up the conveyor. I don't have a wiring diagram for the machine. There are 6 wires coming from the control to the drum switch on the conveyor. I assumed 3 were always on power to allow manual control of the conveyor, and 3 were switched wires to allow the control to turn on the motor.

I turned the control on with the 6 wires disconnected. 3 of them are about 120V to ground. The other three are about 35V to ground.

I'm a bit lost at how to turn the conveyor on with the control. I don't see an m-code listed in the programming manual for the conveyor on/off.

Are those other 3 wires to allow the control to start the conveyor? How do you program it to come on? Does anyone have a wiring diagram that covers that switch?

Thanks,

Adam

Machine 0 lost

Hi

I am wondering if anybody has run into this issue. I had a guy that was modifying the program and for some reason the machine faulted. I notice that the controller had 2 red columns. It seems as if the machine shifted the home position by 8 inches in the negative direction.

I scrolled through the parameters looking for something strange and I found this in the Ladder section. The Y 0038 was constantly shifting numbers.

Just wondering if this can be corrected

Thanks in advance

Mazak MTV815/120 X-axis error.

Due to the fact one of my operators did not tell me the back up battery has failed and I lost everything I did a parameter restore off the disk that was in the machine and now my X-axis is reading double the physical movement of the machine. For example if I move the machine 1.000 on the controller my indicator mover only .500. My Y and Z axis are correct. I cannot seem to find which parameter or setting this is in. Any ideas would be great.

Matrix Nexus - Parting off and Sub-Spindle Bar Pull?

Hi folks.

How can I part off with the part being held by both the main and the sub-spindle? Is there some way to do this in Mazatrol or do I need to make a manual program?

As for the sub-spindle bar pull, I assume I use transfer bar. The question is, is it best practice to put this at the end or the begging of the program? How would you do it?

Thanks!

Mazatrol Smooth G has a calculator app on Mazatrol screen. It is the Schiznit!

I was tweaking a Mazatrol program today and needed my calculator to do some math. But stopped because I remembered the setup man showing the calculator app on touch screen to me. Meh, just another widget. So I open the calculator and it was pretty good. Did my calculations and got my results with pressing the = sign. Just for a giggle I highlighted the X position box on the Mazatrol program. When I hit ENTER on the calculator screen the results went to the program box highlighted.
I am a pretty happy guy right now.

Hello. How can I change the "max turning spindle rpm limit" in the middle of a program? The thing is, I need about 2500 rpm for the main spindle but the sub needs 5000 rpm. How can I achieve this in a Mazatrol program? Thanks!

Mazak slant turn 15 oil leak X-axis . Counter balance cylinder?

My 1981 microslant turn 15 seems to have a major oil leak. Hydraulic oil from the X axis "shaft" portion of the turret is leaking out quite heavily when on.

I have read that it is often a seal in the counter balance cylinder but i dont find any good pictures or descriptions so i wonder if anyone can help me with that?
