All right I am trying to tap a 6-32 hole in aluminum. I am using a cross (X axis) live tool. Rigid tapping. Machine SQT200-MSY. Control T-Plus. EIA programming.
We have another one with Fusion control. Is there a diff in the codes they want?
Here is what I am running
T0707G0G40G98(6-32 CUT-TAP)
M8
G97M203S400
G28H0.
G0X1.8Z-.258
G88X0.F12.5 M203
G80
G28U0.
M205
M202
G0Z3.
M1
This works great on our Fusion, but on this T+ the tap gets to the bottom and breaks.
Machine has SYNCRO. MILL TAPPING option turned on. It looks like the tap hits bottom of programmed move, reverses spindle then dwells for a bit then revese feeds out of hole. Is there a parameter that needs changed or does my code need changed or will this machine not rigid tap?
Thanks for the help

Hey guys.
Running a brand new 450 with a matrix controller.. its about 5 months old as of present.
I have some silly questions and problems.
Questions first;
What is the best way to clean the drain hole under the spindle? I have been sticking something small and pointy in there to try and clean it out.. never seems to produce any chips or dirt. It says not to blow air into it.. it says it can ruin spindle if not cleaned properly. Don't want to chance that. Any tips?
The machine has the quickchange tooling system.. we are fortunate to have lots of holders.. so I would like to have multiple tools set up and put them in the tool data and label them with letters so I can just stick the tools in and go. For the work we do it should keep it plenty close enough. Also would be very handy for live tooling. example... do I keep T01 with tool offset 1 and add a letter to it. such as t0101a? Is that correct? I have figured out how to make multiple tools under one tool number I am just curious what I put the offset to. Also how do I call them up in MDI so I can touch them off? Any tips please.
Okay now onto a problem or two;
It seems all of my tools are drifting offcenter I am not sure why.. The machine has no Y axis by the way. The boring bars are especially bad It seems as if the pin that holds them on center is getting screwed up. Any advice on how to correct this error?
Also my facing tools are not aligned correctly.. It makes a little nub when we face to center (do not usually notice this as we work mostly with tubing) Does this mean the machine is unlevel? Or the turret is off center? Best way to confirm so we can straighten?
Those are the main problems.. a few other ones that occur sometimes. The servo sometimes make a weird chattery sound... It did this often when we first got it.. but we tweaked it by adjusting the frequency somehow. Usually it is pretty good but sometimes it sounds just awful. Seems to depend on the type of job we are doing (ones with lots of OD roughing and heavy threading with a multi tooth tool.) However this is only some of the time.. any good reasons?
Lastly I seem to encounter random vibration sometimes. We use a multi tooth tool to cut oilfield threads and I will get the setup running well and do so many parts with no vibration.. Then boom a random part it vibrates.. then the next it is cutting fine. Very annoying as the part is garbage if there is vibration on the tapered thread. Especially when it is so inconsistant.
Thanks for looking at my post.. I know it is long.. Hopefully easy enough to understand. If you need more details let me know and I will try and reply (I work nights). Thanks again!
Danny

Hello I just bought a vtc41 and have some questions on moving it. The machine doesn't work I think it's a servo error. The shop it's in as well as mine it's going to has lower ceilings. I think once it's through the door I will be ok. I was wondering if I can take the z axis motor off to gain a little headroom? Where the machine is not working can I crank the z down by hand? The head is pretty close to being down all the way I think. I see some people lower the heads onto a block of wood? If anyone has any tips on moving this machine I would appreciate it. I'm going back up in a few days to remove the coolant pan and maybe the z motor. This will be an upgrade to the old bandit powred bridgeport I have now. Thanks in advance.

Does anyone have a source for tool grippers for a VQC-15/40? I'm sure Mazak wants a king's ransom for them.:ack2: Or, better yet, has anybody made their own?

Hi,
I am probing a part, on a Mazak Horizontal machining center with a Matrix Nexus controller and using a renishaw probe, and it has been running for a few weeks just fine, and now in the middle of the probing program, I get an alarm "136 CUTTING BLOCK START INTERLOCK". I don't know what this could possibly mean. I looked in the book and it's even more confusing.
The alarm appears to be happening in renishaw program O9726 in a block that looks like this:
#21=#5061-#105-[#31*#11]
The batteries in the probe are fresh.
Anyone have any ideas? Is this a common alarm?
Thanks for any help.
I tried calling Mazak but had to leave a message and I'm in a hurry of course because the machine is down...

My problem is controling the sub speed. I am currently machining the part bring the sub up, pull part, then cut off. After i sync the main and sub (m502) and cut off i cancel(m505). The sub runs the last speed programed while in sync mode. I select teh sub(m300) after the cancel and program g97 m304(ss reverse) s2000, the sub will run speed of 1500. Does anyone know what i am missing here?
Thanks for your help

Hey guys, I'm new to using 640fusion control on an old VTC 16B, and was wondering if there was a way to tornado mill an arbitrary pocket instead of just regular round roles? Basically I'm trying to mill triangular lights holes on a 10" bolt circle instead of the normal round light holes. I would like to tornado mill them but cant seem to figure out how to do it using "Pocket" Unit and "Circle" mill unit only lets me do round holes. Any suggestions??
Merry Christmas!!!!!

We've grown tired of using the USB sticks and have been working the last few days on setting up a wireless network between our Matrix controls and our network so that we can wireless upload and download Mazak Programs from our PC to the CNC. We used some off-the-shelf wireless ethernet bridges and even some wireless USB adapters. We've got the Network setup so the Matrix machines show up on our network and have shared all the right folders, but the problem is when we "drag & drop" the program from the PC to the CNC it looses information and doesnt want to read correctly on the CNC. Does anyone know of any eays to use, easy to setup DNC software in which you can wirelessly transfer programs? I've spent hours on the net and it seems most of the solutions involve buying an wireless device that connects to your RS232.
One would think that with all the bragging of "state of the art" with Mazak that they would integrate the Windows networking enviornment with the Mazatrol.

Hey Guys,
We have a HTC-400 that was down for a few months that we just brought back online. Everything works great except for one thing... during a tapping cycle the spindle taps in the wrong direction! Its basically tapping as you would want it to IF you were using a LEFT handed tap, except that's not what we're doing. If you watch it during the tapping cycle (I am programming in Mazatrol) in the upper right hand corner of the position or command page where it shows all the G codes being used it shows a G84 which is just a regular ol' tapping cycle. Is there a parameter anywhere for this that would cause it? I've been comparing parameters to an identical machine with no luck. Anybody got any ideas? :skep:

Well, after coming to terms with and actually beginning to like the ole thang, I am changing jobs after the 1st and leaving it behind. I will say all in all it was a fun machine to learn, though you wouldn't guess that if you had watch me during the learning curve! I will miss it, but the new job will take my input on the next machine they decide to buy and guess what my recommendation will be.......... a Mazak!

Morning folks,
A fairly simple taper function on my ST15 (T-1 Control) ends up producing an indentation midway through the part. Please see pics. This occurs at the start of the function and the finishing pass does not follow the indent path.
I recently crashed the turret and had Mazak out to realign it. Before the crash I made a similar taper and did not experience the problem. I'm beginning to wonder if more damage was caused than just a misaligned turret.
Any feedback is welcome.
Best,
Mark

I just got this machine and am trying to set it up.This is an AJV 25-404 2 pallet machine.
I get a "128 outside interlock axis" ALARM. Cannot home x axis.
I have no alarms. Y and Z axis home out with no problem as well as the 4th axis on pallet number 2. Tool changer is in proper position. Air connected, everything works. I saw the machine working before I bought it, everything worked.

I got this machine with low hours and in great shape except for the paint. It didn't match my Integrex so I had to tear it all down and fix it up. It is all powder coated with a primer coat first then the color coat on top. Should last a while. Was a lot of work but looks like new. Only the black parts are re-finished, the white parts were ok and only had a few scratches. Highly recommend this to anyone with a worn out paint job. Total cost for powder coating was $2800. Machine is a joy to work on now. Looks good for when customers come in too.

Looking to replace at least one monitor with a LCD. Were these the same part number for a T2 and T32? I dont have the monitors out yet but was looking on Ebay and saw some retrofit kits that allowed you to use the same plug ins. I show 14" diagonal measurement on the CRTs. Are they both Data ray 5614's?

Well I am not a Mazak person as I dont own one but I always keep my eye out for them anyway. I saw this one on ebay and thought it was a pretty nice looking machine for its age. I dont think it has been repainted and the op panel looks pretty good, anyone think this is a rebuilt unit? Or did someone really love this thing...that is a lot of years for the outside to still look as nice as it does, I wonder what it looks like inside?

So I finally got this machine ready to go but don't know how to clear the tool changer pocket numbers. I was able to clear all the old programs and offsets so the only thing left is to clear tool number pocket assignments. This is a M-PLUS control. Machine thinks tool 12 is in pocket 15 and tool 16 is in pocket 21 Etc.... Want to start from scratch with no tool number assignments. It is probably really easy once you know the "trick" as with all Mazak machines.

My mazak 250 with nexus controller has been having start up problems. It starts windows, then during the mazak software startup it freezes. At that point the only option is to turn it off at the machine breaker and start over. This morning it took until the 4th try to get it start up.
I went thru the maintaince area of windows and ran a disk clean up. Afther I got it started this morning.
Any ideas on why the mazak software is freezing up.

How do I do it, what am I missing? (G-code) the machine keeps giving me an alarm when I use G84, I ended up using a floating head, but I just can't imagine this machine needing that. I can tap with the live tools, how come not centerline of the chuck?
Thanks, Robert

Has anybody done this? Feed programs to the machine from a USB stick. Not necessarily drip feed but at least load from a stick. This is the only way I do it with the Fanuc, drip or load.
