Misoperation 3

$

I am running a Matrix control on a QT250MSY. Putting M0 in to stop and clean the part before pickoff with the sub-spindle. However, on some programs when you open the door the machine generates an alarm Misoperation 3 which can only be overcome by resetting. It's a little annoying having to restart the machine just to make sure that there isn't debris in the chuck. Issue is that it doesn't happen all the time, and on some programs ..... simply power cycling the machine will fix the problem. The keyword here is "some programs" not all. So, I've talked to Mazak with no response. Is there a way to find out what the conditions are that are occurring to generate this alarm? There appears to be no rhyme or reason for it. Btw, we purchased the machine new.

Rigid tap macro for VTC-41 1991 Yasnac MX3

Dear members,

after I now successfully re implemented my tool change macro on a VTC-41 year 1991 with a Yasnac MX3 control, my boss wants me to find a rigid tapping macro and implement that.

I lost all macros while reinitializing the entire system.

At the time, I was too fresh to the whole game and didn't know that macros have to be made visible in order to be able to back them up.

Does anybody here have an idea where I could get macros like that beside writing them myself, which I don't know how to do.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely

Oliver Hanisch

Qt-15 rapid jumping.

Machine is a 91 qt15, t32-2 control.

This is nothing I'm doing, and no one else either.

Happens about 4 times a week, damn thing jumps up to 100% rapid without me doing a damn thing. I typically run it at 30, and it just decides to switch it. I've noticed when it does jump it goes to whatever the home rapid is set to, and they just switch places, but sometimes it doesn't switch the home speed also. Any thoughts of what could cause it?

Why can't I start in the middle of a program Mazak QT200 MY Matrix Nexus

I am pulling my hair out here...... I program in EIA, I have N #'s at every tool change. All I want to do is change a program, and be able to start it back up at a tool somewhere other than the top of the program. I do the restart thing, put in the N # and SOMETIMES it will pull up the tool and run. Most of the time it will try to feed and does nothing. Doesn't seem to matter if it is home in all axis' or not. What am I doing wrong?

QT20n noise at back of spindle

$

I got my Hitachi spindle drive running, and now have a bad noise coming from the rear of the spindle. It seems to be right in front of the belt pulley.

I can turn the spindle by hand, and it makes a sound something like a sheet metal guard rubbing on the pulley.

I thought at first it was the encoder bearings......but I took off the belt, and its still there.

I can now only imagine that it's the rear spindle bearing, but it does not get the least bit warm or anything when run for 20 minutes or so at 500 rpm.

The noise comes and goes.....nothing consistent. It was about every two turns of the spindle when moving it by hand. It really doesn't sound like a bearing.

Is there anything else that could be making this noise back there?

It kind of looks like some sort of seal there in the drawings.....but I don't see a reference to one.

I don't think I can take the thought of new spindle bearings.:cryin:

Mazak load meter question

We have a 2 year old HCN-40000II. It has the 18,000 rpm spindle. We are cutting A36 with a 2-1/2" face mill and are hitting 180% on the spindle load. It does not skip a beat. According to the torque chart this spindle has more torque than our VCN-510C at that RPM but the same exact cut on the 510C is not over 100%.

Anyone ever experience this? At this point I have to believe something is not right with the spindle load meter. Any opinions?

restart with a mazatrol m plus

let me start by saying i've been running mazak mills lathes and integrex for 10 years and my experience has been mainly with 640 t and newer controls. one of the vendors of the shop i work at asked me if i could help out a friend of his with his mazak. it's a vtc-20g with mazatrol m plus control. it all pretty much looked familiar it had programs already in it and some notes for them. the program he wanted to run was a mazatrol program which then uses 4 eia sub routines that drills, deburrs taps a series of holes down the length of an extrusion and the last step is to mill a datum point at the end for another operation on another machine. i got the tools loaded and ran the whole thing and on the last tool that mills the end of the part it alarms out 101 soft limit in x. so i pushed the soft limit back in the parameters. now i want to restart just that last tool. so i go to memory, restart, it asks for a program number so i put in the subroutine number i want then it asks for sequence num. i give it the sequence number next to the subroutine program number then it wants a block number ??? and then repetitions i would say zero for that. everything i've tried so far gets me 624 restart impossible. is there something i'm missing?
thanks

I have a new to me mazak ST-30 ,t-3 controller. That I can not get the E-stop Alarm and 13 others alarm to reset . 20,109,110,111,112,200,201,202,204 and 205 those are the only ones it will display.
I have already tryed reloading the parameters from disk. It excepts all parameters. also they match up to the book. Looked over all macanical parts, top of all the fluids and pulled out the big red button. No luck.
If any one has had a similar problem or knows of any think else to look at. I will much appreciate it.

I have a mazak quick turn nexus 250-II MSY.

My problem is we reloaded the operating software. The machine is working fine mazak tech talked me thru the entire process over the phone ect...

Now the problem does anyone know how you get the work light to stay on the entire time. Right now anytime you press a button the light comes on for 10 seconds then shuts off. At first I though the bulb was going bad witch it did, we just replaced the bulb and the light still only stays on for the short time after a button is pressed then shuts off.

I looked thru the entire prameter list 1 by 1 through the entire book 2 times:Yawn: and can not find anything that seems like it should be helpful to me.

HTC-400 spindle oil air leak?

$

We are getting an air pressure down alarm several seconds after turning the spindle on, I think since I hear air leaking when the spindle turns on it has to do with the oil/air lubrication in there. It's not the air blast.

I opened up the cover on top of the spindle and I can feel air coming out from the back of the spindle.

Am I gonna have to take the spindle apart? Anyone have this before?

Mazak Lathe, Tool Nose Radius Comp problems...`

$

I've got two new Mazak lathes, a Quick Turn Smart 250, and a Quick Turn Smart 350, both with "Mazatrol Smart" controls. I'm having problems getting the G41/G42 nose radius compensation to work right. After-sale support sucks, which is why I'm asking here instead of getting support from Mazak or our distributor...

We are using the machines with EIA programs, not Mazatrol, because we are using Renishaw touch-probes and had trouble switching between Mazatrol and the Renishaw's EIA macro programs. Currently, we use the TOOL DATA page for all of our tool offset information. We are doing only 2D turning, no live tool or milling stuff...

The problem - The control reads the correct offset information, but it will not execute a tool-path correctly using the G41/G42 nose radius comp modes. Instead of working as one would expect, it executes the G41/G42 tool-path as if it were a mill tool-path - that is, the control offset's the entire tool-path by the nose radius amount, as if I were using an end-mill to do the turning portion. Example: If I input a 1.6mm nose radius in the TOOL DATA page, when I run the program, the tool will be 3.2mm in X, and 1.6mm in Z, from the desired geometry. I'm completely stumped by this, and I've tried a few things to remedy the problem, with no success... The programs were copied from Okuma and Fanuc lathe programs, so I know the G-code is sound.

I've setup the tools in the TOOL DATA page to include their appropriate geometry, and quadrant for their nose radius. I've tried using the TOOL OFFSET page without success. At this point, I'm thinking I have some parameters set wrong.

For what it's worth... Our first machine (the QTS 250) was setup in metric when I started here. We had the problem then, and the only solution I could come up with was to manipulate the G-code to account for the tool's nose radius. I hate this approach, because it opens you up for more errors, and just plain complicates things. We bought the 2nd machine which was delivered in Inch mode, and the TNR-comp was working as supposed to. When the setup/apps guy switched the machine over to metric, he copied parameters from the 1st machine we have, and inherited the TNR-comp problem like a bad disease.

If anyone could shed some insight to what might be causing this, I would greatly appreciate it. Like I said, I'm led to believe that the problem lies somewhere in the parameters, but with our piss-poor service, and Mazak's piss-poor electronic manual, I'm not quite sure where to start. Thanks again.

Thread clipping / parameter for fusion wanted

Hi,
I'm looking for the parameter that controls the escape speed for outside threading. I used the parameter (f116) before on a matrix controlled lathe for clipping threads and would like to do the same on the fusion controlled integrex 400y.
Does anyone know the fusion parameter for the threading escape speed?
How do you guys clip threads on mazak lathes?

Thanks

QT20n turret only indexes one direction

$

Hello.....me again.

I was testing some more programming today, and noticed that my turret will only index in the clockwise (looking at front of turret) direction. If I have a tool change that requires it to rotate ccw ( to get there by the quickest route) , it just sits there and waits with the turret disengaged. After waiting long enough, I get some kind of index alarm.

If I push the reset button and then go back to manual, the turret will then rotate cw all the way to the tool that it should have went to in auto. (The long way around)

I assumed that the turret would choose whatever direction was the fastest to its next tool.

Specifically......If I run a pgm that has tool 1 up first.....it will happily go there as long as the cw direction is the fastest route. If ccw is the fastest route.....nothing happens after the turret opens. I can go to manual, and rotate the turret so that the next tool 1 will be reached the fastest by cw.....everything works fine.

Could this be a parameter issue?

Hey guys.

Does anyone have a recommendation for an oil skimmer? I'm looking for something that will work dependably and be pretty reliable. I've been looking at a Mighty Mini from Abanaki. Is this a good skimmer, or are there better ones?

Thanks,
Aaron

Any idea;s on where to get a replacement bulb.
The standard 24" bulb sold here is about 3/8 of an inch too long to fit the fixture. Anyone have a source for metric (?) fluorescent bulbs?
